This is the problem: nobody in the GOP the had the urge to confront the TP people or at least distance themselves from them when they really started getting ugly and vocal around 2008.

Now it is too late, they control and dominate the political discussion.

One of the resident conservatives here is a prime example of that. IIRC, he pretty much was like “I have to vote GOP because it’s a family tradition.”

At this point, I’m real close to ceasing referring to them as ‘Republicans’ and just calling them the Tea Baggers.
