I wonder how excess deaths and unreported positives correlate. If they’re at all close, then the current death percentage (which is somewhere around 1.5% of positive cases in the US right now) would end up being surprisingly accurate.

My guess is that at least half (if not more) of the cases here have never been officially recorded, especially given a reasonable percentage are asymptomatic. Certainly there have been articles suggesting a much higher case count. So the death rate is very overstated.
