Texas GOP: ‘Of Course This Is A War On Birth Control’

I’m basically pro-choice, although I must admit I have mixed feelings about the later months of pregnancy. Maybe I would be opposed to abortion in the 8th or 9th month, assuming the month could be verified. I don’t mind having some mixed feelings about abortion, but what really shocks me is how many on the religious right, who say they care about the life of the unborn, are opposed to birth control. You don’t have to be a scientist to know that birth control should be welcomed by anyone who sincerely feels that abortion is a tragedy. Obviously, birth control is one very effective way to avoid abortions! No pregnancy, no abortion! My point is that there is great hypocrisy when someone claims to sincerely feel that abortion is murder, and that person is ALSO opposed to contraception.

And how about in vitro fertilization, which routinely destroys human fertilized eggs? I once knew a very conservative Christian couple who had no qualms about trying in vitro fertilization. I doubt that they agonized over those discarded fertilized human eggs. But they would be first to champion a constitutional amendment against abortion.
