Many moons ago I cleaned rooms at Baden Powell House in London, in exchange for room and board. The cafeteria served baked beans on toast, which initially turned me off but once I tried I ate every day.

Sometimes to this day, I just HAVE to have a piece of white bread, toasted and buttered, with baked beans on top. I’m not proud of this.
