They are the hardest of the hardcore purity ponies, and it honestly kind of grates on me a bit. I appreciate and agree with the desire to push a more progressive agenda, but until and unless we have the votes to ignore Sinema and Manchin entirely, then purity pony performances are just stupid.

They knew the bill would pass without their help, so they had the luxury of a symbolic “no” vote. Just to make it clear that they know they got screwed — also, I think, to remind the others that they’re not going anywhere, and they’ll be just as necessary another time.
