Dad’s Side: Most came over in 1850’s-1870’s, settled in Michigan. Comes from Groenigen Province in the Netherlands, with history in the surrounding region, including into Germany. They are Frisian. My Grandfather’s Mom immigrated from Norway in 1920. Came from Fredrikstad, and was about 20-30% Swedish

Mom’s Side: Too fucking Complicated to explain. Generally, my mom’s side would marry into the shiny new immigrant group that was coming in. The ethnicities included are Irish, Scottish, Scots-Irish, Welsh, English, French, Alsatian, Dutch, German, Swiss, Polish, and Slovakian. However, the records in a lot of places are gone, so there may have been more cobbling.

My mom’s side? 1890s. Way too complicated.
