I read something once about beards being ‘scent flags’ to waft aromas to potential mates, and I immediately thought of the horrific sight of an old friend of mine eating soup. He trimmed his beard and moustache twice a year, and in between his moustache completely covered his mouth, so when he ate soup, with each spoonful some would get caught in the moustache and run down into his beard.
