Still less the general unpopularity of Republicans in California - not unrelated, IMO, to their resolutely unreconstructed racial attitudes. I recall when I lived there (left 38 years now (!)), the CA GOP was, fundamentally, still living in about 1928, and their general political stance reflected that era’s power dynamics. I guess they’ve advanced somewhat since then (they seem now to be living in c. 1980), but they still rely (AFAICT) on feudalistic agribusiness, and the MIC as their core constituencies. The white segments, anyway.

What I’d really like to see, btw, is someone official (like the CA Sec’y of State, say) push back - hard - on McCarthy’s BS “election fraud” claims.
