There’s a reason that journalists do not arm themselves in conflict zones. That would make them targets in the eyes of some (though there’s others who see their lack of arms as a reason to target them for kidnappings). It also adds to their perception of objectivity. It’s long been taboo to carry firearms, but that could be changing.
