I’m curious about those who died in office but I have to wonder if this is a family affair. I don’t think Obama knew Scalia that well given that Scalia never attends the SOTU. Besides, his family may not want Obama there anyhow.

The funeral has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, a national Catholic pilgrimage site in northeast Washington. Pope Francis visited the basilica last fall. The funeral is open to friends and family and is sure to attract many of Washington’s top officials.

So not sure if that falls in a “family affair” category or not.
