I guess the days that the Feds were required to buy their furniture from UNICOR are over. UNICOR is the brand name for products produced by inmates in the Federal prison system.
They made battleship gray or cream colored desks, chairs, tables, filing cabinets, wall dividers, etc. This “furniture” was some of the toughest (and ugly) stuff ever made. Practically in-destructible. Lasted for years. I swear some of the furniture I had was brought out to the west with the Custer campaign.
