Last year, my wife had to have surgery and radiation for cancer. This year, she had to have a hip replacement which, because of prior history of blood clots, required her to also have an IVC filter implanted.

It is almost certain that, without the “community rating” provisions of the Affordable Care Act (the part that says you can’t be denied for pre-existing conditions or lose your insurance because you get sick), health insurance would now be prohibitively expensive for my family, if indeed we could get it at all. It is hard to overstate how relieved we all are that the SCOTUS upheld the ACA today.

So to those people who say “Obamacare is for freeloaders” or that it’s somehow “the death of freedom” or some other right wing claptrap: you are cordially invited to GO FUCK YOURSELF WITH A CACTUS. Seriously. Fuck off and die, which is exactly what you’d be asking us to do. And make sure you don’t cross my path, motherfuckers, because if you say that shit to my face, you are going to NEED some goddamn health care, very fucking soon.

The ACA is here to stay. Fucking deal with it.
