re: #179 Stanley Sea Toujours
Ah, going to a “going away” party tomorrow for my friend’s Dad who died.
A celebration. I loved that guy & he was born one week before my Mom.
I definitely want to be there, but.
That’s the best party for the occasion.
When my dad died, we had a rabbi speak. My family, being not terribly religious, didn’t have a ‘personal’ rabbi, he was brought in from the funeral home. He called all our living relatives and collected stories about my dad. I wasn’t aware he had done that. When he talked about my dad’s life, I was surprised by a lot of the stories. Everyone was laughing. At a memorial service.
It was exactly what he would have appreciated. I certainly did. It was the best send off I could imagine.
