Which raises the question, if Patterico is in a unique position to know better, being a DA and presumably having been given a copy of the call by police, why is he himself insisting on referring to it as a 911 call when it clearly isn’t?

Occam’s Razor tilts to him simply not being very smart. However the degree to which these shrill assholes are capitalizing on the publicity generated by the story makes me wonder if that aren’t having themselves swatted. Something about their all having the same ready made bogey man to blame but absolutely no evidence to connect the man is incredibly suspicious.

It could also just be lazy prose. “9-11” is easier to type than “Local police non-emergency line”.
