How many times have we heard wingnuts declare “If he were white, he wouldn’t have been elected/reelected”? They can take their bitching about the “race card” and cram it.

Obama should be held up by any conservative with integrity as proof that race does not matter: someone from a non-priveleged background (note choice of words, not “underpriveleged”, just not as priveleged as the scions of political families like the Bushs, Kennedys, Romneys or Gores), who worked hard and succeded, becoming editor of the Harvard Law Review in college before entering politics.

But the vitriol that has been spewed at thim shows how superficial those convictions are when they are put to the test.
