Whelp, it’s official. Not only did they deny it, it was reported on FOX.

IIRC, Enron was denying it right to the end. I think that was even parodied in a Jim Carrey film - his character is a guest on one of the TV market watch programs, and while he’s saying it’s all cool, on the side of the screen, you can watch the stock price shrink to zero.
