Why are Democrats so poor at using things like this as a campaign advantage though? Every time I think “Man, they are going to nail them with this come election time”, they rarely do.

In my opinion, because the public wouldn’t believe them. The current administration made certain promises about the job market, and they have not come anywhere close to seeing that promise fulfilled. Therefore, they can’t toot one horn without drawing too much attention to the unemployment issue. Sort of a self created catch 22.
