Yup. I do worry a bit about rattlesnakes when I’m out hiking because they are often very used to people along the trails and may be a little cavalier about getting out of the middle of the trail if they happen to be there. I really don’t want to step on one.

Rattlers don’t handle surprise well. When I’m in rattler territory I typically carry a walking stick that I use to direct their heads in a direction opposite my position.
