This always bugs me.

Impeachment is supposed to be for “high crimes”. President Trump conclusively did commit high crimes. But because Republicans don’t “feel” like he did anything wrong, now they have to have a retaliatory impeachment, “to own the libs.” This is the dumbest timeline.

Republicans have already had their “retaliatory impeachment”* - against Bill Clinton - which didn’t pan out. Fortunately. But the line always seems to work to rile up the “base”: exacting Righteous Vengeance on their political rivals enemies for the unforgivable crime of winning fair elections is pretty much all they have to offer (well, that, and Christofascist theocracy)…
