If Trump’s goal here was to signal strength to the Republican Senators ahead of tomorrow’s votes I don’t see how he could have failed more spectacularly.

ISTM that this latest SOTU flap has basically - as our cousins Over The Pond would say - utterly buggered whatever legislative kludge Mitch McConnell and/or Chuck Schumer have contrived to end the shutdown/budget impasse. To me, Trump is just going to be so angry at this quite-public slapdown (and by a mere girl, no less!), that he’s probably just going to dig in, and vow to veto
- probably on a Fox News Special - anything Congress passes that doesn’t (specifically, laudatorily, and by name) provide for a YUUUUGE BEAUTIFUL WALL A MILLION MILES LONG!!!!!

So we’re back to Square One: a continuation of the least-popular shutdown in history: or an embarrassing override. Lose-lose…..
