What’s missing in all of this is that NPR was within their rights to fire him for any reason whatsoever. This is not a matter of freedom of speech, Mr. Williams can stand on any street corner or sit at any computer to get that. This is a matter of an employer being willing to give Mr. Williams a platform for his speech. To the extent that NPR has declined to do so, they are fully within their rights as Mr. Williams is in finding a new venue (which apparently he has)
