Call a black partner at a mostly white firm a token, and see what it gets you.

If that law firm lobbied extensively against and sued to stop civil rights legislation and remains proud of that fact to this day, that black partner very well might be a token. Try taking your contextless hypotheticals and placing them in the real world for once.
