The New Yorker recently ran a very interesting piece about a rival canal being planned to cross Nicaragua that’s being bankrolled by a shadowy Chinese billionaire. Very fishy.

I paged this story 6 months ago. I think the bottom line is that all of the Chinese money in the world is going to have an extremely hard time overcoming the major geographic challenges.
