You’ve got Goody’s, a mid-level clothing store, going out of business here in Knoxville. They’ve been around for something like 50 years, and they are all closing up. It is disquieting.
I think a lot of this is a shakeup in how we as Americans do business. I think the time of the malls and huge anchor stores are about gone, with their long lines, limited parking, and expensive goods. Specialty stores are also going to have a harder time. The Internet offers greater prices and are almost always fully stocked.
Americas shopping habits change. This could be part of that change.
