You are missing the point. Sealing the boarder will not stop the food shortages in the US.

No. It is about preventing those food shortages by reducing the population growth in the USA which has a massive average carbon footprint.

A 20% reduction via wind or solar is irrelevant if there is millions of new consumers using the 80% from fossil fuel.
