Clemente was the anti-Schilling. He did more to break down racial animosity than anyone who ever lived in Pittsburgh. No one could hate Clemente except a NY Yankee.
He was so perfect for that city. Did you read the David Maraniss biography on him that came out about 5 or so years back? Really well written and researched. I have a huge soft spot for the 1960 Pirates precisely because they beat the Yankees. Clemente got a hit in all seven games just like he would eleven years later.
