Yes, of course it is paid for somehow (did you miss the sarc?). The point is that that they think it has to be better since it isn’t labelled as a tax.
Don’t see the relationship to taxes—the employee’s share is just a routine payroll deduction. It can be a tax exemption if the combined cost of the insurance and un-covered medical expenses make itemization useful. Kind of lost on the part that was sarc.
