Many on the right seem to think that if something is not being discussed, it’s not happening. They talk endlessly about crime in Chicago and the black-on-black crime rate, but they never utter a word about the number of white-on-white crimes exceeding the number of black-on-black crimes. Always talking about blacks and crime allows them to demonize Black Americans. It also gives them cover to continue of the stereotyping and scapegoating of Black Americans. It is also used to justify their love for SYG laws, their opposition to any gun control laws, and their support for racial profiling. IOWs, if something isn’t happening to them, it’s not happening to anyone else. I’m a retired high school teacher, and I know for a fact that some white kids get into just as much trouble as some black and Hispanic kids because I saw it for myself. The only difference is in the incarceration rates. Black and Hispanic kids are more likely to end up in the juvenile justice system/prison than white kids.
