I had to shake my head over the colonias thing. You’d think a guy running for governor would at least pretend to give a damn.

The Aleppo thing though, sheesh! It’s only the most populous city in a country we’re (supposed to be) very concerned about right now. It’s also one of the oldest cities in the world—possibly the oldest—but this guy has apparently never heard of it.

Ironically, it is not Damascus but Aleppo, poor, benighted Aleppo, which is actually Syria’s largest city and was once a mighty rival to Cairo and Constantinople, that has a far stronger case for being the world’s oldest city. The evidence of settlement goes back to 6,000BC, but excavations north of the city suggest wandering nomads made domestic camps here 5,000 years before that. [..]

I don’t… How in the hell does one go through life being that uninformed? I mean, we’re surrounded by information overload, FFS—it’s almost as if you’d have to make a conscious effort to remain ignorant.
