With friends like Glenn Beck... - Haaretz Daily Newspaper

The Ha’aretz article is typical left-wing agitprop. Whatever one’s views of Glenn Beck — and the view of most here at LGF is well known on the subject — it is sheer nonsense to proclaim as Ms. Tabatchnik does, that “Israel’s international standing and relationship with Jewish-Americans is threatened as Israel is increasingly linked to right-wing political agendas in the United States.”

To the contrary, polls have regularly and repeatedly shown that there is and remains broad support for Israel in American society and, indeed, that such support generally grew under the supposedly right wing Bush administration. Where support seems to have wavered, on the other hand, is among the progressives with whom Ms. Tabatchnik associates and who, for the most part, are the target audience for her writings, as demonstrated by Gallup’s report a few months back.

As I have written here before, most Israelis could care less about Glenn Beck, except insofar as he has been a vocal supporter of their struggle. With terrorists attacking buses and cars and missiles being launched at homes and schools, Israelis have far more important and presssing things to worry about than, as the following quote from Ms. Tabatchnik’s article exemplifies, the projection by yet another progressive Jewish American of her own political views onto others.

Beck’s embrace by Israeli leaders is further indication to Americans that support for Israel is becoming linked to an extreme political agenda in the United States. This threatens to alienate Jews and Christians, Democrats and Republicans.
