The more I’ve learned about the history of the USA, the more it seems to me that the willingness of any black American to even be friendly to any white American - much less any greater expression of trust - to be a triumph of hope over experience almost beyond my imagination.

And I say this as a white man who has been happily married to a black man for over sixteen years. Guess I’m a traitor to my race, too. Whoo!
