General's Dismissal of Sex Assault Conviction Sparks Anger, Review of System : The Two-Way : NPR

Convictions are overturned for legal, technical reasons: improper evidence, failure to disclose exculpatory info, etc. Not because a judge doesn’t feel the burden of proof has been met. That’s the job of the jury. Don’t know if it’s the same in the military, but the only time a judge can do that is before the verdict.
