There are people who simply have a built-in fear of anything that comes from Africa…

People have a weird idea of threats and statistics.

You’re much more likely to be killed by a car accident or lightning than Ebola in the US, but Ebola gets hyped to no end (and idiots like Trump say inane and idiotic things - but I’m repeating myself).

Ebola has killed under 1,000 people during the current epidemic. It kills nearly 70% of those infected with the virus.

Those numbers are scary - if you have Ebola or are exposed to someone who has it.

Much more scary? Malaria. 2.3 billion people are potentially exposed every year. ~200 million get the disease. And ~600,000+ die every year from malaria.

600,000+ people die of malaria every year. That’s 600 times the number of those killed in the Ebola epidemic.
