The only thing that will eventually hurt Trump is when the religious lunatics decide that he’s not pure enough. Sure Trump is an ignoramus, a bigot, and a complete asshole, but so are most of the other GOP candidates. The thing that differentiates them from him is that they love the baby Jesus and all of things he never said, and Trump doesn’t.

I think you’re right. This is going to be how the Republican establishment eventually brings Trump down, when they’ve extracted all the outrage-incitement juice from him. Trump is useful to the GOP right now, but he has an expiration date.
