People keep saying things presuming there’s ignorance or misunderstanding—you don’t understand exponential growth—but that’s not what’s happening.

We’re watching people test-market reasons to not care about coronavirus deaths, to simply treat them as “normal” or “within expected tolerances.”

And when those deaths are intolerable, en masse or when key individuals are stricken, they will similarly market reasons that someone they already despise is to blame.

There’s no good faith; no attempt to engage with the reality of the situation. “What is” is a glancing concern relative to the long term project of declaring themselves Always Moral and Always Correct.
