There’s very little doubt that she was asked to resign.

Why on earth would she have been asked to resign without being given an opportunity to explain by her employer. If her story is true, her employer’s conduct was reprehensible and suggests that the employer marched to the partisan right-wing drumbeat.
There is something very fishy here.
