Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We’re likely to be under severe storm watches this afternoon as the storms that have ravaged the Midwest make their way East. So far, it looks like the worst of the weather will remain off to the West of the NYC metro, but that doesn’t mean we’re off the hook. If the sun comes out for any extended period today, it’ll add to the energy in the atmosphere, and it’ll increase the chances of bad weather as the front approaches.

Watching some of those videos and radar loops makes me think of the scene from Twister at the drive-in, the way you can’t see anything out there, right until the lightning illuminates the storm.

Wow. Scary stuff.
