That really wouldn’t surprise me. But let’s spitball the unthinkable - it’s been a long time since we’ve had a President die in office (JFK in 1963). Let’s say the worst, absolute worst, truly comes to pass. How are they going to announce it? I presume it’d be the White House which would make a formal announcement of such an event.

Given the nature of the virus, if things go bad, they’re going to have to invoke the 25th Amendment - whether it’s Section 3 or 4. So it’s entirely plausible that if Trump were to shuffle loose this mortal coil, Pence would already be Acting President.

The more interesting/difficult question is what happens if he dies before the election? Can the GOP replace him on the ballot? Will Electors be instructed to vote for Pence? What about the VP choice?
