Homophobia seems to be linked with Patriotism in lots of Eastern Europe, did the President try to dismiss homosexuality as a “foreign ideology, like communism”.?

If that is the case, then Democracy and human rights are foreign concepts as well…

Homophobia is definitely linked to Czech patriotism and Czech nationalism here.
