With all due respect, I’d rather see everyone’s taxes (including mine) go up 1% across the board. Every bracket from 15% to 35% go up 1 point. We’re all in this together, aren’t we? And I’d also be for eliminating deductions. We’d close 20% of our budget gap if we got rid of the mortgage interest deduction. Let’s start with that.

Don’t forget, the payroll tax is, in theory “earmarked” for Social Security. By cutting funding for Social Security we’re just going to have to take money from somewhere else to cover it.
