You are unwilling to consider what advantages in life you may have (even as simple as living in America, or being a man), and I’m sure you believe you’re 100% self-made and never benefited from anything outside yourself, right?

You’re the one claiming that a $3K expense is the easy solution. If it’s truly that easy for you, you’re very fortunately. If it’s not such an easy thing, maybe you should be less glib? Millions of people live in homes or apartments they don’t own, and buying a generator isn’t a reasonable solution for those people. (I know, I know, single disabled mothers living welfare-check-to-welfare-check should just “budget better” like you and buy generators.)
