Louisiana is among the worst states for health care, education, wealth generation (it’s among the poorest states in the country on per capita basis) and the only real thing the state has going for it is New Orleans/Mardi Gras and that it sits atop a huge pile of oil/natural gas at the mouth of the Mississippi River. Without the geographical fortuitousness, Louisiana would be a backwater. As it is, Jindal’s doing his best to see that occur despite all the benefits of geography.
