The answer to that one should be: They would be working at the mom and pop, locally owned stores providing food, clothing, shoes, auto parts, toys, pharmacy services, jewerly, hair care, etc. that were run out of business by the behemoth that is wallyworld.

And probably buying/selling US-made items since at the small scales like that it is less economical to arrange for mass shipments of foreign-produced items.

(Basing this in part from buying unglazed plant pots for $0.60 - that were made in Germany. Unless you’re making and move a *lot* of these at once in bulk the transportation and logistics costs bury the profitability of these items.)
