I heard a story this morning on NPR about a woman from Honduras who took a bus to Nuevo Laredo and planned to cross the border and request asylum, but the bus was surrounded at the bus station by narcos, who kidnapped some of the immigrants on the bus. She was kept in safe houses for 3 weeks until her family in San Antonio paid $8k for her release. She crossed the border and made her asylum claim and was put on a bus and sent to…Nuevo Laredo to wait for her hearing. She said she plans on going back home.

This is what they want to happen when they craft these policies. This is cruel by design.
