Even 52-48 R, while not pleasant, could be better than we expect with Biden in the driver’s seat. 48 years of deep personal connections within the Senate mean that he’ll have a skill set that no D president since LBJ has had when it comes to understanding how to get things through there. He won’t get everything he wants from Mitch, of course, but he has a better chance of pulling a few R votes away than Carter, Clinton or Obama probably could have.
