I suspect it will take a lot of examples to get over people’s normal inclination to believe that a test that is 98% accurate will only fail two percent of the time, and therefore, only two out of 100 people will get flagged wrong. Or a test for cancer, or other similar problems. It takes a while to get the idea that it’s more than just the test accuracy that influences the results.

I consider myself relatively intelligent, but without that previous example, I’d never would have thought about it from that perspective. I’m going to have to do some more reading on this.
