Ah, but technically we are out of a recession.

And that is a problem.

Oil prices started their trend upwards again once it became clear that many of the world’s major economies were expanding, especially the US. Only the US oil price at Cushing (WTI) remained low, and that was due to structural issues wrt US refineries and oil sources.

Look, it doesn’t have to be the government that tries to reduce demand. Ok, let the “invisible hand” of the market do it.

Don’t be surprised if said invisible hand gives everyone a back-handed slap across the face.
