We just can’t take anything for granted. I don’t know what happened in November but Trump being elected in the first place changes everything. We can’t underestimate the power of lies and populist demagoguery on our population.

At the same time, we have to be mindful not to treat every comment by Trump or Republicans as the new law of the land. There are still a number of things in place that can prevent them from doing a large amount of immediate damage: Democrats in Congress, judges put in place by Obama, ACLU, etc. Our job is to give all of those things the support they need and to harass our Republican representatives if we have them.
