i was on AMTRAK west of Denver and got to be very close to a ‘bald eagle, the train was going up a steep encline along the head waters of the colorado river during the winter, in a old tree over looking a part of fast moving water, one of the few ice free spots was a bald eagle it was waiting for dinner to swim by. the train was maybe 10 feet from the eagle and it did not leave the spot as we slowly went by at maybe 5 miles an hour. these are damn big birds.
