It’s the return of the “volcano monitoring” BS, the idea that government agencies are “wasting” money on research into topics that wingnuts don’t approve of or don’t see the reason behind, as an excuse for cutting science funding. The CDC’s budget has gone up a whopping $1 billion in the last decade, before adjusting for inflation, but according to Erick that’s more than enough.
